Elina Svitolina has made a big move ahead of the Paris Olympics and the North American hard court swing as the Ukrainian tennis star has decided to stop working with coach Raemon Sluiter.
Just before starting her post-pregnancy comeback last April, Svitolina added coach Sluiter to her team, who in the past worked with 2016 French Open semifinalist Kiki Bertens. And it was a great decision since Svitolina won Strasbourg in one of her first tournaments back before also making the quarterfinal at the French Open and also her first Wimbledon semifinal.

But after Svitolina’s comeback started in an impressive way, the feeling is that she hasn’t managed to take it to another level this year despite being a finalist in Auckland and reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinal in her last tournament played.
Svitolina: Coach Sluiter is one of the best out there and I’ll always be grateful to him
“I just wanted to let you all know that Raemon Sluiter and I have decided to end our working relationship. We have had a great run and Ray has helped me become a better player, in my opinion he’s one of the best out there on either tour and I will always be grateful of what we achieved together through his and our hard work and efforts,” Svitolina wrote in a message posted on her Instagram.
“I will update you all when I decide on my next moves regarding a coach but for now; I just want to thank Ray again and wish him all the best!”

Maybe, the 29-year-old Ukrainian felt that she and coach Sluiter couldn’t help each other anymore and that she needed a new voice – something that can happen in tennis.
Meanwhile, Svitolina is scheduled to represent Ukraine at the upcoming Paris Olympics, where she will try to win her second medal.
In the past, Svitolina lost in the quarterfinal of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics before winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
