Alexis Ohanian engaged in a candid interaction and opened up about the challenges of parenthood. “It’s like a lot of things, it’s about discipline and routine” He also delved into how the entire process helped him overcome his negative traits and the assistance that his wife and star player Serena Williams extended to him in becoming a good dad.
When quizzed, “What do you think is the key to home life,” Ohanian recalled his initial days and life after college. “In my 20s, I was a first-time CEO, right out of college. I squandered so many hours because I didn’t appreciate the routine and the discipline because I was my own boss.” For the unversed, Ohanian is the co-founder of the social aggregation platform Reddit along with Steve Huffman, and Aaron Swartz. Continuing further, he revealed the changes that he experienced after becoming a father.

“Becoming a father at 34-35, I knew I had to bring that (discipline and routine) into my life.” He further shared his emotions about Williams. “It didn’t hurt that my wife has lived an incredibly regimented life since she was a little kid, so she’s been an amazing influence and you just find a way to make it work.” The American WTA legend picked up racquets when she was just four. She turned professional at 14, which meant being extremely controlled and organized. And the couple has made sure to give the best possible parenting to their daughters.

Speaking further in the interview, Ohanian shared, “I promise to the girls when I am on dad duty this (mobile phone) goes away. We do our best and then we know what really matters are those little girls back home.” The couple welcomed their first daughter Olympia in 2017. They were blessed with their second child in 2023 after Serena hung up her racquets. But this is not the first time when the entrepreneur expressed such sentiments for his daughters.
