For $13.5 Million, You Can Live in Serena Williams’s Old Digs
Tennis icon Serena Williams doesn’t miss, and her former abode—freshly listed by Sotheby’s for $13.5 million—is no exception. There are many probable reasons for why she chose to spend 13 whole years of her life in this airy, oversized home, not least of which are its gracefully appointed details, like the white marble chef’s kitchen and gilded bathroom fixtures.

1201 Stone Canyon Road in Los Angeles’s Bel-Air neighborhood is spread across more than two acres, with a pristinely landscaped backyard, glittering pool, and blooming pergola walkway. There aren’t any tennis courts on the property—likely because Williams craved a (well-deserved) work-life balance while living there.

Stepping inside the home means coming face-to-face with its markedly old-world charms, as well as Mediterranean touches of luxury: Chandeliers, gold claw-foot tubs, gallery-like entryways, James Turell–inspired skylights, and moody furniture choices all abound. After all, when Williams parted ways with this Stone Canyon Road delight in 2019, it was purchased by interior designer Rodrigo Vargas, who undoubtedly knew a good thing when he saw it.

Gold claw-foot bathtub, anyone?
If its six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom arrangement isn’t convincing enough, the house also boasts a media room/home theater, library (for indulging in one of Williams’s upcoming books, perhaps?), and second-floor primary suite (ideal for catching some R&R amid the city’s bustling rhythms).
Now, the ball’s in your court to make a move on this elegant gem, built in 1935. Winning will cost only $13.5 million.
