Paris 2024 Olympics Tennis tips: Iga Swiatek to dominate, Coco Gauff to challenge for medals

Planet Sport looks ahead to the women’s singles tennis at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, with four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek the one to beat.

The favourite to take the Olympic gold medal in the women’s singles tennis looks pretty clear cut as Iga Swiatek has been dominant at Roland Garros over the last few years, winning the last three French Opens.

But upsets certainly can happen and this tournament is unlike others Swiatek will have entered before.

In Tokyo three years ago the tournament threw up plenty of shocks before Belinda Bencic took home the gold medal.

Gold Medal Winner

Here we look at the women who are most likely to take home the gold medal.

Odds displayed are drawn from Planetsportbet.com and are subject to change.

Iga Swiatek (8/15)

The world number one has been utterly dominant at Roland Garros in recent years and is the standout favourite to win gold.

There will be concerns about her ability to sustain her performance over the fortnight in Paris yet again.

However, she remains the player to beat ahead of the Paris 2024 Women’s Singles.

Coco Gauff 6/1

Coco Gauff will be one of the players who will relish the chance to represent their country and she will have high hopes of a medal.

Gauff is seeded second this time around and will not have to face Swiatek until the gold medal match if both players make it that far.

Already a French Open finalist, it would be a massive boost to Gauff if she could claim Olympic Gold.

Elena Rybakina 11/1

Number three seed Elena Rybakina is yet to really fire in a big tournament this season but looks a stronger shout than most for an Olympic medal.

Kazakhstan did not win any gold at the Tokyo Olympics and she would give the nation a great boost if she could bag gold in Paris.

She has won 12 of her 14 matches on clay this season and will be a difficult player to beat if she is on song.

Mirra Andreeva 16/1

Mirra Andreeva misses out on a seeding for Paris 2024 but will be greatly encouraged by her French Open performance.

Andreeva hasn’t touched down in Paris yet as she has opted to enter the WTA Tour tournament in Iasi this week, adding two more wins on clay to her tally.

She shouldn’t have too many concerns about fatigue even if she goes all the way in Iasi ahead of the start of the Paris women’s singles draw.

Naomi Osaka 16/1

Naomi Osaka hasn’t had the best time of it on clay but she has made big improvements this season and might yet be a threat for gold.

Representing Japan will no doubt give her an extra boost as will the team environment and Olympic village spirit.

Osaka is an outsider but she certainly qualifies as a player to watch in Paris.

Jasmine Paolini 20/1

The French Open and Wimbledon finalist has been neglected by sportsbooks despite a breakout season.

She was in the championship match in Paris but the bookies have noted that her performances in finals have been off the pace.

Still, Paolini continues to threaten to win a big one and it would be foolish to write her off.
