Alexis Ohanian, husband to tennis legend Serena Williams, revealed some unfortunate personal health news this week.
Ohanian says that, after undergoing several tests and scans, he has Lyme disease.
The entrepreneur says that he is not currently experiencing symptoms, but he’s dealing with low cholesterol.
After revealing his diagnosis on social media, many fans and users responded with kind messages.
“So glad you caught it in time. Early prevention saves lives,” one user said.
“feels like we’re in the cusp of a new paradigm in medicine hopefully these health scans quickly become cheaper and more accessible to the masses so many lives will be improved or even saved because of this shift to proactive health,” another user said.
“Use quality bug spray and check your body often! If caught early it can be very easy to treat,” one user said, adding that it’s possible to get Lyme disease in a variety of places.
“Take care of yourself – that family of yours needs your positive spirit,” one fan said.
“Hope treatment goes well sir,” said another fan.
Ohanian helped co-found the website Reddit, and has been married to Williams since 2017 and the couple has two children together.
Williams retired from professional tennis after the 2022 US Open, an event she won six times in her career – a number that ties her with Chris Evert for the most wins in the Open Era.
She retired as a 23-time Grand Slam champion, also the most in the Open Era and second all-time to Margaret Court’s 24.
Williams and Ohanian recently attended the ESPY awards earlier this month, which Williams hosted.
