Carlos Alcaraz Succumbs to Olympics Temptation To Break Parents’ Promise Despite Keeping His Word at Wimbledon

The Spaniard tennis sensation is looking to get inked again this season. But first things first, and in Alcaraz’s words, “There’s one small step left, a match that’s a big mountain.”

The young talent has booked a meet against Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Paris Olympics for the gold medal match. The duel which is scheduled to go down on Sunday, August 4, will be the ultimate decider of Alcaraz’s wishes. And this time, his parents will likely sign off on it!
The 21-year-old has been keeping up with an inking tradition. After coming to a mutual consensus with his parents, who initially disapproved of the idea of him getting tattooed, the Spaniard convinced them that he would only get inked for each of his maiden crowns at the 4 Major tournaments. Alcaraz’s first tattoo came after his 2022 US Open victory. The former World No. 1 got the date of his triumph “11.09.22” inked above his left elbow, which he later clubbed with the letters “CCC” on his left forearm. Notably, the abbreviation denotes his grandfather’s motto, “Cabeza, Corazon, Cojones,” righteously reflecting the Spaniard’s zealous personality and translating to head, heart, guts.

Further, Alcaraz’s 2023 Wimbledon victory prompted him to secure a strawberry and the Championship date, “16.07.23” tattoo near his right ankle. However, the Spaniard was unable to secure his parents’ permission to get an ‘ink-credible’ souvenir after clinching his second consecutive SW19 title this season. But he is looking to make up for that at the Olympics. In hopes of inking his body again if he furnishes himself with a gold medal, the Spaniard revealed his plans for a commemorative tattoo by saying “Without a doubt, the rings and the date Paris 24, one hundred percent.”

Moreover, in a post-match presser after moving past the quadrennial event’s semifinal round, Alcaraz reiterated his goal if everything goes according to the plan during his contest against the Serb in Paris. “If I win on Sunday we’ll see, but most likely yes. There’s one small step left, a match that’s a big mountain, but if I get it, I’ll do it.”
And by the looks of it, the Spaniard is fetching all the help he can get to ensure his inking plans don’t go south!

Carlos Alcaraz has been surfing through the Olympic Games without the guidance of his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. Owing to the Games’ essence as a team event, so far Alcaraz has been guided by Spain’s national coach David Ferrer. However, according to reports by the Spanish outlet ‘Marca’, Ferrero is slated to unite with the young talent ahead of his preparation against the Serbian.
This, in turn, can prove as a huge help for Alcaraz. He is looking to end Spain’s 16-year gold medal drought and with the guidance of his coach who knows the inside tracks to Alcaraz’s mindset, he stands a better chance of coming out on top in Paris.
Moreover, earlier this season, the Spaniard also opened up about Ferrero’s coaching approach. He notably highlighted that the 44-year-old is a tough taskmaster and knows how to efficiently balance things. “He is a very serious person when he has to be, when it comes to work and discipline. But he is also very funny when he has to be. He knows how to differentiate the moments very well.”

It is worth noting that the nation’s last glory at the Olympics came at the hands of Spanish legend Rafael Nadal. The former World No. 1 pocketed a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. If Alcaraz manages to tune in his champion mindset to further push his agenda, he stands a real shot at bringing laurels to his nation this season!
