Ohanian spilled the beans behind his motive to make Olympia the youngest owner of two sports teams, Angel City FC and the LA Golf Club. In a conversation with American rapper and basketball player Flau’Jae, the Reddit co-founder said, “I wanted to create something that you know I, you think a lot about legacy building when you become a dad and you start to think about that opportunity and obviously the most important thing is hopefully the good presence I can give them but in addition, I just loved the idea and why not? Let a little black girl be a trendsetter for you know team ownership.”

Ohanian’s statement echoed his love for his daughters, Olympia and Adira. He might not want Olympia to flex all these in her resume, but he definitely wanted her to feel special helping her achieve accolades as a young black girl.

When Flau’Jae also asked whether Olympia had the slightest clue about it, Ohanian jokingly said, “She doesn’t know so don’t tell her please. She knows, well, uhh, no she has no idea. In 2019, I start this team, I set aside, a few hundred grand into a trust for her and any other future kids Serena and I have. Adira, good news you’re also splitting it now with Olympia. I really feel my number one responsibility to conduct my business life, my home life in a way that girls are proud.

The entrepreneur has his hands full with his career, but his constant efforts for his family show how one can balance the personal and the professional. One can find several quotes from Ohanian to confirm the fact that he is a doting father.

Serena Williams’ husband finds “having children” as one of his significant achievements

Ohanian has always been vocal about his love for his kids. Despite having a net worth of around $70 million, he found his greatest achievement in being a good father to his daughters. In 2024 November, Ohanian tweeted on the X and accepted that “having children was one of the best things” he did “not just personally, but also professionally. Business Dads will understand.“ Ohanian’s statement sets an example for working fathers.

While he is aggressive in his investments, he follows a rather different approach for his children. “I generally think about gentle-ish parenting the way I like to parent. I do generally like the idea of talking to my kids instead of talking down to them.“

Ensuring his daughters don’t face a day of adversity is a big reason Ohanian continues to invest for them. With his mindset around the job, Angel City FC and LA Golf Club are just the start and we are sure to see more soon.
