Andy Murray called time on his remarkable tennis career at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the British legend retiring after a quarter-final doubles loss with partner Dan Evans.

Murray, a two-time Olympic champion, won 739 of the 1001 matches he played during a professional career that started in 2005, and he collected 46 ATP singles titles, as well as three doubles titles.

The 37-year-old reached 11 Grand Slams finals, winning three (two Wimbledon titles and one US Open), while he also won the ATP Finals once and secured 14 Masters 1000 tournaments.

The former world No 1’s superb on-court achievements earned him $64,687,542, which puts him fourth on the all-time men’s prize money list. He collected $16,349,701 of this total in an incredible career-best 2016 season.

In addition to Murray’s prize money haul, he has made some successful business investments, with accounts published for his company 77 Management showing it was valued at £21.4 million late last year — a £900,000 increase on the year before.

According to the CelebrityNetWorth.com website, Murray has a net worth of $100 million (around £78.5 million).

“When I started out as a tennis player, I don’t think I really understood marketing,” said Murray told Adweek last year.

“I just wanted to play tennis, so it didn’t really interest me. But as I’ve gotten older and worked with lots of different brands, I have a better appreciation of marketing and its importance in the business of sport.

“This is particularly the case now I have my own apparel brand, AMC. I get regular sales data updates, so it’s very clear to see when a marketing activity has had an impact and I find that quite motivating.”

Here is a look at some of Murray’s most notable investments:

Cromlix Hotel

The Cromlix House Hotel is a five star hotel near Murray’s hometown of Dunblane in Scotland where he married his wife Kim and the couple bought the estate for a reported £2 million in 2013.

In an exclusive interview with Tennis365 in February, Kim Murray said: “Andy and I took the management of Cromlix back into our own hands at the beginning of last year, after working with a management company for the previous ten years, and it’s been a great decision for us.

“We have had much more input in the last 12 months and we feel like it’s a better reflection of us as owners now, without having tennis rackets and photos of Andy throughout! The good news is that the hotel is thriving.”

Castore

Liverpool-founded luxury sports clothing brand Castore became Murray’s official kit partner in January 2019 and the Brit subsequently became a shareholder in the company.

The company brands Murray’s clothing line as AMC and has since provided kits for a number of high-profile sporting teams, including Premier League football clubs, the England cricket team and the McLaren Formula One team.

Game4Padel and Team AD/vantage

Murray has invested in the padel company Game4Padel, which installs courts for free at tennis clubs and other locations before recouping their investment by hiring them out.

The Brit also launched Team AD/vantage, the fourth franchise padel team to enter the Hexagon Cup tournament that was staged for the first time in February.
