Tyson Fury’s voice completely changed after he permanently damaged his throat from a punch – and it sounds very weird to hear.
The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ has one of the most recognisable voices in the world of sports through his iconic trash-talking.
But if you haven’t followed his career from an early stage, then you might not know about his speaking voice when he started out in the sport of boxing.

In 2008, ahead of making his professional debut on the undercard of Carl Froch vs. Jean Pascal, Fury spoke to the media, revealing a totally different voice to now. Check it out below:
These days Fury, who turns 36 today, speaks with a raspy, husky tone due to a direct result of being punched in the throat during a sparring session with Ty Mitchell back in 2015.
He explained his voice change during an appearance on The MMA Hour.

“It wasn’t always like this though, this isn’t my original voice,” he told Ariel Helwani.
“If you go back and look at interviews from like 2010 onwards right up until about 2016, I didn’t have this voice.
“One of my good friends, Ty Mitchell… We were sparring and he hit me in the throat real hard and I developed a blood clot in my throat.
“It messed around with my vocal words, so this is why I talk like this now… Some would say it’s quite sexy, I’ve been told.”

Fury’s whole look and voice has completely changed since 2008, but he’s become famed for his new style.

He’ll look to exact revenge against Oleksandr Usyk and reclaim the world heavyweight titles.
The WBA (super), WBC and WBO belts will be on the line when they renew hostilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 21.
It won’t be an undisputed showdown like their last meeting as Usyk was forced to vacate the IBF strap following his big win over Fury.
