Alcaraz reveals how his mother and father helped to keep him grounded
Following his rise to fame, Carlos Alcaraz has said that his parents, Carlos Senior and Virginia Garcia, have helped to keep him humble.
After beating Daniil Medvedev in the final match, he recently won $1.1 million and his second Indian Wells trophy. Alcaraz disclosed in a recent conversation that his parents teach him humility each time he brings home silverware or a big check so that the success doesn’t go to his head.
Alcaraz expressed his thoughts about it and said: “Well, my father and my mom have a really good role. They try to pull me into the ground every time I win a tournament or win a certain amount of money. I’m not going to lie; I’m not going to hide. They always stay there to put my feet on the ground.”
The Spanish player went on to say that, when he is among friends and family, he tries to act like a regular guy rather than a tennis star.
He further said: “For me, it’s not difficult to do it because every time I have really good results or if I have a really good run in a tournament, I always want to be back with my friends; I just feel like nothing happened to me. I love to be back at home; I feel like I’m Carlos Alcaraz as a person, not as a tennis player, not because I did something huge; I want to feel like I’m a normal guy.”
