“2 is a great number… When you have 3, it’s more difficult” – When Steffi Graf reasoned why she and husband Andre Agassi stopped at 2 children
Tennis legend Steffi Graf once spoke about the possibility of having a third child with her husband Andre Agassi. She ruled out the possibility, noting that managing three kids would be much more challenging than handling two.
Graf and Agassi have been married since October 22, 2001. They met for the first time at the winners’ ball after the 1992 Wimbledon Championship but began dating seriously only in 1999. The American was captivated by the German long before they ever met.They have two children together: a son named Jaden Gil, born on October 26, 2001, and a daughter named Jaz Elle, born on October 3, 2003. Jaden is involved in baseball and aspires to be a professional player, while Jaz prefers to stay away from the public spotlight.
In a 2004 interview with the German magazine ‘Stern,’ Steffi Graf discussed her life after retirement and her family with Andre Agassi. When asked if she would consider expanding their family, the 22-time Grand Slam champion said that while she couldn’t predict the future, she didn’t think having a third child would be a practical choice.
“You can’t predict that. But I actually think two is a great number. You have two arms, two hands; and there are two of you,” Graf said.
“It’s important to me that I really see the children grow up and spend a lot of time with them. I see that here and there with friends; when you have three, it’s more difficult. Two is a good number,” she added.

During the same interview with ‘Stern,’ Steffi Graf discussed how her life changed after having two children. She mentioned that while she was able to manage quite a bit after the birth of her first child, Jaden, things certainly became more challenging after Jaz was born.

“With one child you could still do a lot together,” Graf said. “But when you have two, it’s different. Our oldest is now almost two years and eight months old, he has nonstop energy and wants to play. So you have to share the tasks when you have another baby.”
The 22-time Major champion also shared that while she used to travel frequently with Andre Agassi, their approach changed after having children as they became more selective in choosing the locations.
“Of course, although not at every tournament. That’s better than not being together. But now with two children, we choose the locations carefully so that it’s a little easier for the children,” Graf said.
