Camila Giorgi, the well-known 32-year-old Italian tennis player and winner of four WTA Tour tournaments, has officially confirmed her retirement from tennis after her mysterious departure from the courts.
“I am happy to formally announce my retirement from my tennis career,” Giorgi posted on her Instagram account.
The Italian tennis player wanted to thank her more than 741,000 followers on Instagram: “I am grateful for your wonderful love and support for so many years. I appreciate all the beautiful memories.”
Giorgi, who during her time as a tennis player also worked as a model, clarified that “there have been many inaccurate rumors about my future plans, so I hope to provide more information about the interesting opportunities I will have in the future”.
Camila Giorgi is awaiting trial and is being investigated by the Italian tax authorities
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Guardia di Finanza is investigating Camila Giorgi for “loopholes” in her tax responsibilities.
Investigators believe that Giorgi, who is due to appear before the investigating judge in Vicenza on July 16, left Europe and moved to the United States.
