For years, one of the most recognizable Italian tennis players was Camila Giorgi . She even reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2018. Recently, however, she has become the heroine of many scandals.
Giorgi played her last match in March of this year against Iga Świątek. The Italian lost in the second round of the tournament in Miami 1:6, 1:6 and… she disappeared without a trace. On May 7, the ITIA organization, which deals with integrity in tennis, announced that she had ended her career. She did it completely quietly, without even informing her fans on social media.
But that’s not the end of the shocking news. It turns out that the Italian tennis player has problems with the law. Law enforcement is looking at her, and the reason is unpaid taxes. The amount is half a million euros.

Now new facts are coming to light. It turned out that Giorgi robbed the villa where she lived, near Calenzano in Tuscany. She allegedly took Persian carpets, antique furniture, including a table that was supposed to weigh half a ton. What’s more, the owner says that the athlete has not paid half a year’s rent.
– These items are part of my life and my mother’s – the owner complains in “La Repubblica”. He estimated the losses at 50-100 thousand euros.
According to the owner, a few months ago a neighbor alerted him to the fact that several vans had appeared in front of the villa. “When I arrived, there was no one there and the house was half empty. (…) There were pieces of furniture and a pile of carpets in the garden. They probably already filled the vans and had nowhere to put them,” the man says.
The man allegedly wrote to Sergio Giorgi, who is the tennis player’s father, asking him to return his wishes. He replied that they were items of little value.
