Bublik Slams Nadal’s Retirement: “A Disgrace. He’s Old and Bald”
It is well-known that Alexander Bublik is one of the most unique players on the circuit, often making headlines with his unusual and even controversial behavior on the courts.
Now, the Russian player, currently ranked 33rd in the ATP World Tour, has made bombastic statements regarding Rafael Nadal and , members of the so-called ‘Big Four’ who retired in 2024.
“I am not Rafa Nadal, and my legacy will be much smaller. We all want to retire at our peak, but what happened with Andy Murray and Rafa was a circus. I can’t say it any other way,” Bublik said in an interview with the Russian channel Match TV.
“They have won everything, and even we, players, looked at them with our mouths wide open in the locker room. Suddenly we see one of them old and bald. It is obvious that he is not the same and would not return to being so. In my opinion, it is more of a disgrace than a circus. I think that’s the right way to put it,” he added.

Bublik also took aim at Murray, who is now the coach of , the only active member of the so-called ‘Big Four’. “These are attempts to cling to something that no longer exists, some echoes of the past. I think that is a problem. I hope the same does not happen to me; maybe at 36 I will go to the Challenger in Bangkok, but I hope to finish with a clear conscience.”
