Roger Federer and the 2020 Olympic champion, Neeraj Chopra, met each other in January 2024 in Zurich, Switzerland. While Federer is the brand ambassador of Switzerland Tourism, Neeraj Chopra is the brand ambassador of Switzerland Tourism from India. So, Switzerland Tourism arranged a meeting between the two maestros of their respective sports.

Both athletes showed immense respect for one another and spoke highly about each other. They even exchanged gifts in the form of souvenirs. Federer gave one of his signed rackets to Neeraj, and the javelin star gave one of his signed jerseys from the Asian Games to Federer.

The players discussed their professions as well as their personal lives. In a recent interview with Lallantop, Neeraj Chopra revealed some of the chats he had with Roger Federer during their meet in Zurich. Chopra talked about his long hair struggles and referred to the challenges faced by Federer and Nadal as well.

“I didn’t take care of my hair and now it is disappearing. They are going slowly. It is hard to take care of it. The biggest problem is that, see any athlete, in tennis they usually keep long hair, like Rafael Nadal or Federer. Whoever kept it, had difficulties, because of so much sweat and then I know girls shampoo and oil a lot, I don’t know how they get so much of time. I can’t do that. After training I dry my sweaty hair with the towel and then take bath, sleep. Now my hair is weak,” he said.

The javelin stalwart is known for his long locks and his flair reminiscent of Nadal and Federer. Both tennis players have been vocal about the hair issues faced by them throughout their careers. In the later stages of their career, they also started to lose their hair for the same reasons as elucidated on by Neeraj Chopra.

Chopra even shared Federer’s intention to visit India. Chopra said, “he wants to come to India, especially Rajasthan.”

This crossover between the famous Swiss and Indian sports personalities was highly unexpected. Nevertheless, it brought huge joy to the sports enthusiasts all over the world.
