We are just two days away from the start of the Australian Open main draw, with excitement building ahead of the first Grand Slam of the new year.
Emma Raducanu was the only British player to draw a seed in the first round, having been pitted against Ekaterina Alexandrova in her opening match. Katie Boulter will face Rebecca Marino, while Jack Draper has been drawn against Mariano Navone.
He could potentially face Carlos Alcaraz in the third round, with Novak Djokovic also in that quarter of the draw. The 39-year-old will begin his campaign against teenage American wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy.
Elsewhere in the draw, British hopeful Jacob Fearnley has been handed a blockbuster debut against Nick Kyrgios, who faces a race against time to be fit after picking up an abdominal injury.

Emma Raducanu pours cold water on injury fears
Emma Raducanu has insisted that she is feeling good despite suffering an injury scare ahead of the Australian Open.
She was recently forced to withdraw from the Auckland Open but has made it clear that she is ready to play in Melbourne.
“I think the last 10 days I’ve had a positive block of training,” said Raducanu.
“Coming back on the court, adapting to the conditions here has been good for me. Two weeks ago I’d say I had to pull out of Auckland because I just wasn’t ready.
“I had a bit of a niggle that happened pretty randomly. I couldn’t prevent it. I feel good and I feel ready to give it my best here.
“I had a really good block of training in London before the Billie Jean King Cup and after the tie, pretty much going straight back into it.
“One morning I was warming up, bent over to tie my laces and I had a spasm. That was really it. It took a while to clear.”

Novak Djokovic claims under fierce scrutiny
Novak Djokovic’s claim that he was ‘poisoned’ with heavy metals in a quarantine hotel has been disputed by food experts.
Damian Maganja, a researcher in food policy at the George Institute for Global Health, described his claim as a ‘wild accusation’.
He told The Guardian: “It’s possible but very unlikely given how long he was locked up.
“These meals were probably made in mass amounts and there haven’t been other reports as far as I know.”
Barbara Cardoso, a nutritional biochemist at Monash University, said Australians had ‘relatively low exposure to lead and mercury’.
“It requires time for that mercury to accumulate in the body to cause poisoning,” she explained.
“The food that people who live in Melbourne and consume locally that may have been harvested here or sold at local grocery stores is unlikely to cause a poisoning.”

Nick Kyrgios questions Novak Djokovic accusation
Nick Kyrgios has admitted that he does not believe Novak Djokovic was poisoned at a quarantine hotel in Melbourne three years ago.
Djokovic made headlines yesterday by claiming that he was given food which contained ‘a very high level of lead and mercury’.
Kyrgios, however, is not convinced that Australian authorities would have done that.
Quizzed on Djokovic’s comments, he said: “No, I haven’t spoken to him. I didn’t even know that.
“We treated him like s**t, that’s for sure. We wouldn’t have done that.”

Andy Murray has joked that he will try to ‘sabotage’ Novak Djokovic’s hopes of winning the Australian Open from within.
He will be on the same team as his Serbian rival, having joined his coaching team ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year.
“I played here a few times, could never quite get over the line unfortunately,” said Murray yesterday.
He then pointed at Djokovic, who was sitting next to him, and added: “This man is single-handedly responsible for that. I’m now here to try and sabotage his chances of winning another one.”

Emma Raducanu forced to see doctor
Emma Raducanu has revealed that she was forced to seek medical treatment after being bitten by insects in Melbourne.
“Yesterday I got really badly bitten by jumping ants, mosquitoes or something,” she explained.
“I’m allergic, I guess. They flared up and swelled up really a lot. Someone was, like, giving me this antiseptic spray, natural, to try to ease the bites.
“I didn’t want to take it. I didn’t want to spray it. I was just left there with my swollen ankle and hand. I was like: ‘I’m just going to tough it out because I don’t want to risk it’.
“So I spent the second part of my day coming in to sign, seeing the doctor to try to get some like remedies, because I had a bit of an allergic reaction, but I’m fine now.”
