Jannik Sinner is the undisputed No 1 in men’s tennis after his convincing win at the US Open, yet the events in New York have shaken up the UTR rankings.

Endorsed by 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, the UTR Rankings offer a more accurate reflection of current form on court.

The UTR rankings are calculated using a different method to the traditional ATP list, with the current form and the ranking of your opponent taken into account when the final analysis is made.

The method for calculating the UTR ratings differs greatly from the rolling ATP list, which ranks players based on the points they collect over 52 weeks.

Victories against higher-ranked played are worth more in the UTR list than the official ATP or WTA ranking, meaning they offer up a more accurate reflection of the current form at the top of the game.

The UTR rankings are based on the current form from the last few weeks and months rather than reflecting results that occurred up to a year ago, with the system created to promote fair and competitive play across the tennis world.

All players, regardless of age, gender, geography, or skill level, are rated on the same scale between 1.00 and 16.50 based on actual match results.

The UTR ranking is open to players of all levels of the game and the algorithm used provides an intriguing insight at the top of the game, with Jack

Draper’s run to the US Open semi-finals fired the Brit into the top ten of these rankings, with the 22-year-old sitting in eighth position in the UTR list and the ranking of Djokovic is also intriguing, as he is sitting at No 1.

The Serbian legend has slipped to No 4 in the ATP Rankings after his early exit at the US Open, but his win against Carlos Alcaraz in the Olympic Games Final – which did not count towards the ATP list- is taken into account in the UTR calculations.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev is up to No 2 in the ATP Rankings, but he is down at No 4 in the UTR list that sees America’s Taylor Fritz move up to No 5 on that list after his run to the US Open Final.

Matteo Berrettini’s fine form in recent months sees the Italian make a return to the top 20 of the UTR Rankings, with the out-of-form Holger Rune down at No 31.

There are also some interesting movers in the women’s UTR Ratings, with Spain’s Paula Badosa roaring back into form in recent weeks and leaping to No 5 in this list.

Elena Rybakina has been struggling with health issues in recent months, but her lack of time on the court has not affected her UTR Rating as she is in second position being world No 1 Iga Swiatek.

America’s Jessica Pegula is up to No 4 in the UTR list after her run to the US Open Final and Britain’s Emma Raducanu is in No 28 position, well ahead of her current WTA Ranking of No 70.
