Recently, Alexis Ohanian was congratulated by his wife, Serena Williams, and his sister-in-law, Venus Williams, for winning a prestigious award. What’s that award, though? For nearly four decades, ADWEEK has been recognizing the brightest minds in branding and marketing with their highest honor, the Brand Genius Award. Be it ATHLOS NYC, Angel City FC, or something else, he always comes up with new ideas for promoting women’s sports. Alexis Ohanian recently put up a post on his IG account in which he thanked ADWEEK for the Brand Genius Award. He wrote, “It’s wild to me that after 15 years of building a brand like Snoo & @Reddit, I’m being recognized for everything I’ve done in the 4 years *since* leaving Reddit, which delights me because I resigned in protest so that I could spend the rest of my years not only doing the best work of my career but also in a way that aligns with my values.”

 

He further added, “Thank you, @Adweek, for this Brand Genius award; and thanks to all of you who have supported me all these years. Normally, I’d use moments like this to thank all my haters — but this time, I’ll focus on all of you who have supported the ambitious work we’ve been doing at @776fund the last 4 years. THIS is my life’s work, this team is the best I’ve ever worked with, and I’m grateful to get to wake up every morning and build with them. I’m counting on you all to keep supporting @weareangelcity, @athlos, @OffseasonFC, @thesportsbrapdx, and more — there’s much more to do!” Later on, Serena Williams shared that post on her IG stories with the caption, “So deserved Congrats @alexisohanian.” Even Venus Williams shared an IG story that read, “My brother @alexisohanian so proud!“

On September 26th, Athlos, the wholly original track competition, will debut at NYC (Icahn Stadium). According to Serena Williams’ husband, “Social content is driven by women.” He says that every platform has become a success in social media—Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok—because of teen girls. According to the reports of SponsorUnited (2022), female college athletes generate four times the total audience engagement of male athletes and seven times more engagement per deal. The 2024 class of the Brand Genius Award represented people who created a buzz with their unique imagination and drive for the growth of companies and communities together. Almost two years ago, there was a moment when Alexis Ohanian was spotted congratulating Venus Williams on the 28th anniversary of her WTA debut win. He shared an IG post with a heartfelt note. This is one of the posts that received enormous love from fans. Then again, in that same year, we saw both Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian congratulate Venus on being featured on the cover of Newsweek magazine. Ohanian shared a social media post with the caption, “LFG sis!”

Recently, when Venus Williams launched her new book ‘Strive: 8 Steps to Find Your Awesome,’ Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian were the first ones to congratulate her. Serena shared an IG post announcing the same, while Ohanian shared a video on his IG stories. In that video, he was heard saying, “A huge shoutout to my amazing sis Venus Williams.
