He said: “It’s been great. We came here as a group, all of us to win the Laver Cup. I’m pretty happy. I think everybody, for us, is, I mean, it’s been a tough one… we almost lost.”
Alcaraz also voiced his discontent over the congested tennis calendar after playing 14 tournaments this year.
He said: “Probably they are going to kill us in some way, right now, a lot of good players are going to miss tournaments because of that [injury].
“Sometimes, you don’t want to go to a tournament. I’m not going to lie—I have felt this way a few times already.
“I play my best tennis when I smile and enjoy it on the court. That’s the best option to keep motivating myself,” he said.
Alcaraz has won 41 out of the 50 games he has played this season while winning the French Open and the Wimbledon Open titles.
Next year’s Laver Cup takes place in San Francisco.
