Charley Hull Hit by Same Fraud Scandal as Lexi Thompson; Fans Warned as ‘Scammer’ Mess Poses a Threat
Paige Spiranac, Lexi Thompson, and Annika Sorenstam. Can you find anything common between these three golfing icons? Well, there’s the real them, and then there’s the fake version of them. Wondering whom to believe? Most would believe the former, but there are cases when some fans accidentally so, got roped into a scam by the latter. And that is what Charley Hull seems to wish to avoid!

The LPGA Tour Pro shared a story on her Instagram handle warning her fans of the same. “Just a reminder that my only official social media accounts are Instagram (@charley.hull) and X (@hullcharley),” wrote the golfer as she notified her followers of the verified handles. Anything other than these two would be fake, it seems.

That’s not all she said. “I DO NOT have an official TikTok account or any official fan pages/fan clubs that are run by me or my team,” added the 28-year-old. She also took to urge her followers as well by adding a final line of warning to the Instagram story; “Please don’t fall for the scammers out there!!”

Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time that Charley Hull has asked her followers to be aware of the fake accounts. Remember the athlete doing so almost a year back in October 2023? Well, she did talk about the TikTok account even back then when she posted a random picture on her story with the caption; “I do NOT have a Tick-Tock [TikTok] account. So if you are following one of me that is fake!… And please report.”

What do they get by impersonating these golf stars on the internet, especially through their social media handles? A curious question to ask them, of course. And it will be if the likes of these golfers or influencers, especially Paige Spiranac and Lexi Thompson, come face to face with the ones who are scamming their fans.
Charley Hull isn’t the only one who spoke out against scammers
“Please don’t fall for these pages that are pretending to be me, my manager, my family, etc.” Warned a worried Lexi Thompson as she took to her Instagram to issue the same. She further pointed out how “these are all FAKE,” before going ahead to highlight her profile as her “ONE and ONLY page.” She didn’t stop there either. Thompson also added how fake Telegram accounts were using her name to trick fans into communicating with them. “So sorry for all this,” added the pro helplessly, “I really wish I could do something about it. Please just report the pages!”

Quite a bit hard to get scammed after witnessing the golfers issue such warnings? It’s natural to think so, but the reality is a bit different. Many were victims of the scams. Something which Spiranac found extremely scary. “Please do not give anyone money who is claiming to be me,” mentioned the diva. “I do not have a Google Hangouts account, a WhatsApp account, or a Telegram account.”
It is truly a concern in the golfing community that such scammers are present to take advantage of the golfers and their names. What about you? Have you come across any such counterfeit accounts? If so, do report them without a moment’s delay!
