One image that stood out was Lexi Thompson’s arrival with a mystery man on the red carpet. The 29-year-old will soon be retiring from professional golf and has previously spoken about discovering that there is more to life, such as family and traveling. Her number one priority is said to be marriage, saying, “I’ll be 30 next year, so settle down, get married, have a family. That’s my No. 1 priority.”

She has previously not divulged any information about her partner and stated as recently as February that she was single. Perhaps things have changed since then, and she may be beginning to live out the life she had planned for herself after retirement. As for her partner at the Gala Dinner, it is unclear who he is. Thompson has yet to speak about the state of her relationship with him.

Another part of her post-retirement plan was to launch a fitness app called the Lexi app which she did on 28th August. The app allows users to follow along to her fitness routines that have helped her in her career. As for traveling, she plans to see South Africa and Greece. Although, just a few months away from retirement, she did show up to the red carpet with a plus one like many others.

The Solheim Cup Gala Dinner was an opportunity to bring a special person in the lives of the golfers to the professional sphere. Many brought their partners, Nelly Korda came alone and some like Andrea Lee and Lillia Vu brought their parents. Alison Lee was also with a partner who is not known in the public sphere. In her last Gala Dinner at the 2015 Solheim Cup, which is remembered for her conceded putt controversy, she also said that she missed it because she had food poisoning that week.

The Gala Dinner is a staple of the Solheim Cup and takes place each time the Solheim Cup comes around. This time it occurred the day before the opening ceremony which is scheduled on the 12th and will feature country music star Jordan Davis on The Great Lawn. As the Cup is a big tent event in the world of golf, it is always a chance for those involved in the sport to clean up and have a fun evening with their special people.
