CLEVELAND, Ohio – Delve deeper into the life of tennis icon Serena Williams with the continuation of the new eight-part TV docuseries “In the Arena: Serena Williams” later tonight – Thursday, July 18 – on-demand beginning at midnight Eastern. The special is only available on ESPN Plus.

This episode will stream on ESPN Plus beginning at midnight Eastern. You can get a subscription to ESPN Plus for $10.99 per month. Another option is to sign up for an annual subscription for $109.99, which saves about 17% off compared to the monthly route.

The special follows Williams’ journey in her own words. The legend talks about her early days on the tour and her most memorable milestones, including her Grand Slam victories. She also sheds light on her life off the tennis court, including dealing with tragedy, depression and finding love. Williams also touches on her role as an uber-successful entrepreneur, fashionista, author, mother and wife.

The titan of tennis has left a trail of excellence that most only dream to emulate.

Williams has won more overall Grand Slam titles than any other women or man in the Open Era (1968-present) of professional tennis. She won 23 Grand Slam singles titles alone, the most in the Open Era and second-most in tennis history, behind only Margaret Court (24).

Adding to her legacy, Williams shared the court with her sister, Venus Williams, hundreds of times, including capturing 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three doubles gold medals at the Olympic Games. Whether they were teammates or competitors, the emotions were always high when the sisters were on the court.

Serena is the only player to achieve a Career Golden Slam in singles and doubles. The feat requires a player to win all four majors, the Olympic or Paralympic gold medal and the year-end championship throughout their career.

Williams officially retired from competitive tennis in 2022.

Episode 2 preview:

As Serena struggles to follow up her first Grand Slam, her sister Venus wins four major titles in two years. Serena settles back into her groove but finds herself face-to-face against the best player in the world. She must mentally overcome the challenge of facing her sister on the grandest stages.
