Former tennis player draws comparison between Carlos Alcaraz and other ATP players

L

Carlos Alcaraz has widened the gap that separates him from the other ATP Tour players. Together with the youthful Spaniard, there’s Jannik Sinner; both are going to have bright futures ahead of them, save for the great Novak Djokovic.

This is the viewpoint of former Swiss tennis player Marc Rosset, who discussed the two players he believes are dominating the Tour in the 2024 season as well as the lack of other players from the younger generation now playing at their level in an interview.

Rosset expressed his remarks recently and said: “The Spanish tennis player and the Italian tennis player will be protagonists for a long time, in a phase in which Novak Djokovic is necessarily in a downward phase of his career for reasons of age and injuries. Alcaraz and Sinner could have a highway ahead of them. Behind Sinner and Alcaraz, I find that there is an abysmal void, with players who are too stereotyped.”

He added: “Alcaraz is now the only one who really does many different things and I think that he and Sinner could have a highway ahead of them. If the others do not immediately ask themselves the right questions about what to add to their game, they would not be right to say: We were not lucky, we arrived together with them.”
