In 2021, Emma Raducanu shocked the world when she won the US Open Grand Slam as an 18-year-old qualifier. The spectacular success allowed her to debut in the WTA Top 10 and allowed her to sign numerous advertising contracts. The young tennis player became a recognizable figure in various corners of the globe.
The great result achieved in New York has led to many honours for Raducanu. This week she received the MBE (Most Magnificent Order of the British Empire) from King Charles III, in a gesture of appreciation from the monarch for the player’s success and her contribution to promoting tennis in the country.
“It is a great honour to receive the MBE from His Majesty King Charles. I feel immense gratitude,” Raducanu said in a statement sent to media at the ceremony at Windsor Castle.
A difficult season for Raducan. The British player was unable to maintain a high position in the WTA ranking and fell out of the top after the US Open 2022. She is currently the 75th racket in the world and is preparing for the new season, which will begin with a performance in Auckland, New Zealand (WTA rank 250).
