Emma Raducanu may be about to make a big change to her team with the 2025 season on the horizon.

The Brit returned to the WTA Tour in January following an eight-month injury layoff due to ankle and double wrist surgery.

But 2024 has been another year riddled with fitness issues for Raducanu, as a foot injury caused her to retire from the Korea Open.

Injuries have proved to be the proverbial Achilles heel of Emma Raducanu’s career so far, but fans are intrigued by the prospect of a new person joining her team.

What have fans said about a possible change to Emma Raducanu’s team?

According to the Telegraph, Raducanu is in talks to hire fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura.

He worked with future tennis Hall of Famer Maria Sharapova for eight years and also spent some time working with Naomi Osaka. The duo have won nine Grand Slam titles combined.

This will be a positive sign from Raducanu, who is determined to overcome her injury woes and fans are pleased to hear of her plans.

X user @vossy1973 said: “Wonderful news,” while @konallis posted: “Given her issues with injury and apparent worries about playing a heavy schedule, a full-time fitness coach seems like a positive move.”

@KitmanForbesy said: “Good move that. Hopefully this will help move Emma forward,” while @Yoyasanhut added: “I hope that it will happen soon.”

Is Emma Raducanu injured now?

Following Raducanu’s first round exit at the US Open, she began her Asian swing at the Korea Open on September 17.

But she was forced to retire from her quarter-final against Daria Kasatkina due to a foot injury and missed the rest of the Asian swing as a result.

However, Raducanu is due to return to action at the Billie Jean King Cup, which is due to commence on November 13.

Ahead of the tournament, a statement of her team confirmed the former US Open champion is fit and ready to represent her country.

“Emma is training well and being with the team next week is her focus,” they said. Raducanu is set to be Great Britain’s number two behind Katie Boulter at the Billie Jean King Cup finals.
