Hubert Hurkacz has announced his coaching team for the 2025 season – Dominic Thiem’s ex-trainer Nicolas Massu and Andy Murray’s former mentor Ivan Lendl. The world No. 16 has made his ambitions for next year clear after a promising start to the season saw him climb to a career-best sixth in the ATP rankings.

However, he has slipped down 10 places during a disappointing second half of 2024 and separated from his coach of five years, Craig Boynton, in August.

Hurkacz has made an eye-catching statement ahead of next season, though, with the appointment of Chile’s Massu and Czech-American icon Lendl.

This afternoon, the Pole took to Instagram to confirm the news by posing with his new coaching duo on the court.

The trio were all smiles and arm-in-arm in the image, captioned: “Bring it on, 2025! [muscle emoji] #team.”

Massu is a former Olympic champion and reached a career-best ninth in the world rankings in the same year. He coached Thiem from 2019 to 2023, helping him clinch the 2020 US Open.

Lendl, the former world No. 1 who dominated the tour in the 1980s and accumulated eight Grand Slam titles across his career, established his credentials as a coach alongside Murray.

He started working with the British icon in 2012, and they enjoyed a successful on-and-off partnership for 11 years.

Murray became a Grand Slam champion alongside Lendl, who bolstered his coaching experience with current world No. 2 Alexander Zverev in 2018 and 2019.

Hurkacz is the highest-ranked Polish tennis player in history and his country’s first to win an ATP Masters 1000 title.

He has lifted eight ATP Tour singles titles in total, including his two Masters 1000 successes – the 2021 Miami Open and the 2023 Shanghai Masters.

The 27-year-old’s best Grand Slam performance came at Wimbledon in 2021, where he became the second Polish man to reach a major semi-final after Jerzy Janowicz in 2013.

However, he has been hailed for his netplay and is no stranger to a serve-and-volley move to quickly win points.

With Massu and Lendl by his side, Hurkacz is undoubtedly vying to reach new levels in 2025 after a disappointing few months.

Matching or surpassing his quarter-final run at this year’s Australian Open would be an eye-catching start to the campaign.
