As Andy Murray prepares for his retirement from tennis, he has been mentoring perhaps the next big British star in the sport.
The 37-year-old has announced that the Paris Olympics will be the ‘last-ever tennis tournament’ of his illustrious career, which has seen him win three Grand Slams, 46 ATP Tour singles titles and two Olympic gold medals.

Murray will be hoping to finish with a bang in Paris, after an injury forced him out of the men’s singles draw at Wimbledon, before Emma Raducanu withdrew from their mixed doubles arrangement with a wrist issue.
Ahead of her son’s retirement announcement, Judy shared a picture of Andy with a 17-year-old who hopes to follow in his footsteps.
She wrote: ‘Charlie Robertson : the Scottish teenager following in Andy’s footsteps, heads to New York for the US Open junior event next month.

Judy Murray posted on X that her son is ‘investing in the next generation’ of tennis stars
‘He’s ranked 25 in the world and has just spent a week as Andy’s training partner. Investing in the next generation.’
Robertson, who as of Monday is now ranked 30 in the world, has been inspired by Murray’s legacy.
He is one to watch for the future, with a 78 per cent win rate this year when playing on grass, and 71 per cent on clay.
‘I love Andy – he’s been a huge source of inspiration for me since I was little,’ he told the National.
‘He’s been a massive help to my tennis – he’s just a massive inspiration, being a Scottish player and trying to be like him, all of the help he’s given to British tennis has been special, so I really like Andy.’
He will hope to have success in the Junior US Open next month – which Murray won 20 years ago.
Murray went on to win the senior US Open eight years later, before winning two Wimbledon titles in 2013 and 2016.

He wrote today on X: ‘Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament.

‘Competing for Great Britain have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get do it one final time!’
He recently told HELLO! magazine: ‘I’ll definitely still be playing tennis. Just not on the Tour.
‘I plan to play a lot more golf, and I’ll probably carry on working with my strength and conditioning coach, Matt Little, as I transfer from being a full-time athlete and adjusting to not needing to do quite so much.’
