Tennis great Serena Williams recently announced her plans to retire from the sport. She’ll walk away with an amazing 23 Grand Slam singles titles, just one shy of the all-time record.
Considered one of the greatest athletes of all time, she started her winning ways at the age of 17, when she won her first Grand Slam title in 1999.
Now 40, the phenom has served as a force in sports and well beyond. Her young life and rise to tennis greatness alongside sister Venus is the subject of the drama “King Richard.”
While she’ll leave a void in the tennis world when she steps off the court, Williams will surely continue to dominate in other areas, such as business, fashion, and, we hope, real estate.
As the world’s highest-paid female athlete, with a net worth of $260 million, she’s served up some seriously swanky properties, from Florida to California. Let’s take a peek at her smashing homes.
Waterfront estate
What do you do when you want your own stamp on a recently purchased waterfront mansion? When you’re Serena Williams, you enlist the help of your sister Venus Williams.
Serena snagged a Mediterranean mansion north of Miami in 2017 for $5.7 million. At the time, the 6,770 -square-foot floor plan offered six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
The gated estate in an exclusive enclave in Jupiter, FL, offered a half-acre of land with a private boat dock, heated pool and spa, and sandy beach access.
With the help of her sister’s design firm, V Starr, the siblings reimagined the space and transformed it into an ultramodern retreat.
Highlights that she showed to Architectural Digest include an art gallery, floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor-outdoor space, a private trophy room, and a 620-square-foot closet.

Beverly Hills abode
The Los Angeles native has owned some trophy homes in Southern California. Although she has shed some of her Golden State holdings, she held on to one posh property in Beverly Hills.
Serena Williams bought the brand-new home in 2017 for $6.68 million. The beautiful five-bedroom abode measures 6,000 square feet.
It features oak flooring, an open floor plan, contemporary finishes, and walls of glass.
Luxe amenities include a gym, wine cellar, and bar. The grassy grounds include a pool and outdoor kitchen.
Williams tested the market in 2021, asking for $7.5 million for the lovely residence. But later in the year, she took the home off the market.

Bye, Bel-Air
Around the time Williams picked up her Beverly Hills abode, she was ready to bid goodbye to her home in the Bel-Air neighborhood.
The elegant seven-bedroom estate spanned 6,101 square feet. Highlights included a semicircular living room, white marble flooring, and glass doors opening to the gardens. The property’s 2.76 acres included a loggia and pool.
Located in the Stone Canyon area, the swell home built in 1935 initially landed on the market for $12 million in 2017, about twice what Williams paid for the place in 2006.
She reduced the price to $10 million after about a year, and the home was eventually sold in 2019 for $8.1 million.
It came back on the market in 2020 and was sold for slightly under $8 million.
Property sisters
Serena and Venus as siblings played together, competed together, and shared a home.
They purchased an acre of land in BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, with both water and golf course views; they paid $525,000 in 1998. They lived together in the private and secure mansion they built on the parcel.
The triple-gated estate offers 8,000 square feet of living space, with two spacious primary suites with private offices. Luxe amenities include four guest suites and an outdoor living area with a pool and spa, cabana, and kitchen.
The sisters listed the sweet spread for $2,695,000 in 2018. It was sold in early 2019 for $2.3 million.

Serena also owned a home nearby that she bought brand-new in 2015 for $2.5 million. The five-bedroom, 5,600-square-foot mansion overlooks a canal and features built-ins, marble floors, and a three-car garage. The 1.25-acre property comes with a pool, spa, and outdoor kitchen.
Property records show she sold the place in 2021 for $2.8 million.
Big Apple action
The sister act also owned a pied-à-terre in Manhattan. The Williams sisters picked up a 1,800-square-foot, two-bedroom loft in 2006 for $1.3 million.
They listed their crash pad in 2015 and, within months, sold it for $2.1 million. It was slightly over their asking price.

Serena’s husband, Alex Ohanian, has also jumped into the real estate game. The Reddit co-founder is letting go of his Brooklyn apartment. On the market since May, it’s still available for $2,295,000.
The entrepreneur purchased the unit in 2011 for $1,245,000. It has been on the luxury rental market since 2016 and was most recently available for $7,500 a month.
Located in Brooklyn Heights, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit features 1,385 square feet of living space, 13-foot-high ceilings, and oversized windows.
