Carlos Alcaraz made a spectacular debut at his first Olympic Games. The player from Spain impressed once again in Paris, returning 48 days after winning his first Musketeers’ Cup. Alcaraz, who had no trouble against Lebanese player Hady Habib, will face a tougher challenge in the second round of the Olympic event.
He will compete against the winner of the match between Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor and Greek player Petros Tsitsipas, the brother of Stefanos Tsitsipas, who entered the draw after British player Cameron Norrie withdrew.
The Greek player, who is competing in doubles in Paris with his brother, is ranked No. 74 in the ATP doubles circuit, and has not competed in singles since 2021. On the other hand, the Dutch player Griekspoor, a possible next opponent for the “Nadalcaraz” pair, has faced Alcaraz twice, with Alcaraz holding a 2-0 record against him.
His second singles match will be the third match Alcaraz plays in Paris, following his debut in both singles and doubles on Saturday.
