You have to make a reason for it. Lexi Thompson will never play again in Major mode for Evian-les-Bains (74). Aged 29, she is indeed conspicuous by her absence in the field of the 2024 edition of a tournament which is celebrating its 30 years of existence this week.
The one who announced her retirement at the end of the season several weeks ago has not made the trip to France since 2019 when she did not make the cut. That year, she expressed her dissatisfaction on social networks, explaining in summary that good shots were not rewarded on the course of the Champions Course at the Evian Resort Golf Club.

If her last outings in this unique Major (men and women combined) contested in continental Europe were failures (missed cuts in 2019 and 2018, 48th out of 54 holes in 2017), Lexi Thompson was nevertheless able to achieve victory, notably in 2015 where she played for the win (2nd by one stroke after three rounds) before finally taking 2nd place six strokes behind Lydia Ko.
In 2013, for the first in Major mode in Evian, she finished in 3rd place ( over 54 holes), four lengths behind the Norwegian Suzann Pettersen. Absent in Evian this year, she will however be in Scotland, at St Andrews, for the AIG Women’s Open (August 22-25). This will be his last Grand Slam tournament!
