With Lydia Ko on the doorstep of the LPGA Hall of Fame, how far away are stars like Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda?
Lydia Ko is making moves in Paris. The 27-year-old Kiwi needs a gold medal to complete her Olympic set, and she’s moved her way into contention midway through the festivities at Le Golf National. A victory this week would put Ko into the LPGA Hall of Fame, giving her the 27th point needed to qualify for the toughest Hall in sports.
Ko would be the first player to qualify since Inbee Park eight years ago.
To be eligible for the LPGA Hall of Fame, players must have won or been awarded at least one of the following: LPGA major, Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average or Rolex Player of the Year.
They must also amass 27 points with:
one point for each LPGA official tournament win
two points for each LPGA major tournament win
one point for each Vare Trophy or Rolex Player of the Year honor earned.
An Olympic gold medal is also worth one point as of two years ago
Here’s a list of current LPGA stars and where they stand on the march toward 27:
