Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang will compete in the Solheim Cup at the Robert Trent Golf Club in Virginia this week. They will represent Team USA in the biennial event against Team Europe, with golfers like Nelly Korda and others in the squad.
Ahead of the Solheim Cup, Megan Khang praised her teammate Lexi Thompson, who will feature at the Solheim Cup for the last time as a player. Thompson will retire from professional golf at the end of the 2024 season.The 29-year-old has competed in six Solheim Cups and will be representing Team USA for the seventh time in the biennial event.
“I think Lexi is just such a great role model not only for us but for the young kids. You look at her, and she’s so engaging with the volunteers and the fans, sponsors. She does the absolute most, and I think the Tour is going to lose a huge asset when she does retire,” Khang said.
Khang also said she jokes with Thompson about retirement and enjoys playing golf with her.
“I joke with her, ‘you’re not really retiring.’ I got to play with her the last few days, last week at the FM Championship. It’s so good getting to play with her, and I really cherish those rounds with her because you see how she is,” the 23-year-old said.

Lexi Thompson was a child prodigy and turned pro in 2010 when she was just 15 years old. She is one of the best golfers on the LPGA Tour and has won 15 professional trophies in her career. Thompson also has one major title to her name, having won the 2014 Chevron Championship.

The 29-year-old has made around $14.5 million in her career earnings. In May, Thompson announced her decision to retire from pro golf, citing mental health issues.
“Although this has been an amazing journey, it hasn’t always been an easy one. Since I was 12 years old, my life as a golfer has been a whirlwind of constant attention, scrutiny, and pressure. The cameras are always on, capturing every swing and every moment on and off the golf course,” Thompson said.
After the Solheim Cup, Thompson still has around ten events remaining on the LPGA Tour this season. However, her Team USA teammate is confident that she will remain associated with golf in some way and give back to the game as much as possible.
